Why Thinner Lenses?
One of the thinnest types of plastic lenses used to make glasses is known as 1.67. The name comes from the index of refraction of this type of plastic material. The index of refraction of a lens material determines thickness. As a comparison, Standard Plastic lenses, or CR-39 lenses, have an index of refraction of 1.49. Use 1.67 Thinner Lenses if you have a fairly strong to very strong prescription and your lenses will be lighter in weight and more cosmetically appealing.
Why Blue Light Filtering Lenses?
Blue light blocking lenses are specially crafted lenses that block or filter out the blue light given off from digital screens. The lenses protect your eyes from glare and can help reduce potential damage to your retina from prolonged exposure to blue light.
In our modern lives we have an ever increasing exposure to screens. This is simply a reality for most of us and there are positives and negatives to this reality. Blue light blocking lenses can help mitigate some of the negative aspects of our screen time.
